Apple Turnover

Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • [1/4 cup] orange juice
  • [1] large Granny Smith apples
  • [1] large pear
  • [3 tbsp] sugar
  • [1 tpbs] unsalted butter
  • [1 tbsp] orange zest
  • [] cinnamon
  • [] ground nutmeg
  • [] ground cloves
  • [] corn starch
  • cream cheese dough
  • optional milk for garnish
Preparation:
Stuffing
  1. Peel, core and cut apples and pears into bite-sized chunks
  2. Put the fruit, butter, orange juice and zest in a medium sauce pan
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes
  4. Mix in the corn starch and cook for another minute
  5. Let the mixture cool
Assembly and baking
  1. Roll the dough so it's about 1/8" thick (can be a bit thicker)
  2. Fill half the pastry leaving 3/4" border near the edge
  3. Fold the pastry and pinch the edges
  4. Brush the top with milk or cream, and sprinkle with sugar
  5. Bake in 400F for 10 min.
  6. Lower the temperature to 350F and bake for another 20min (or until brown)
